Storytelling
First read through the exercise, becoming familiar with its shape and objectives. Then choose a comfortable place and body position. Still the body and mind, coming to a quiet inner place. Read or listen to Isaiah 49:8-10 ending with '...and one who loves them shall lead them and take them to water at bubbling springs.'
In our own life story there have been times when we were comforted and led and held close by someone from whom we received much love. Recall one such experience and let it rise up in your memory. Take a few moments and recall the whole story. (Pause). Now allow the interior spotlight to focus on one element of the story at a time - yourself, the situation, the one who came, the feeling of being cherished - focussing on each long enough to extract the full measure of it as a gift from God.
At the end of the reflection period, choose one word as a symbol of the story. Use the word to recall the good feelings from the experience and to remember the story.
